Road Safety Audit (RSA) – An RSA is a formal safety performance examination of an existing or future road or intersection by an independent audit team. As a proactive tool for identifying and documenting opportunities for safety improvement, an RSA may be applied at any time throughout the lifecycle of a roadway.

Safety Risk Analysis in Road Design – Road designers work within an established range of design values to arrive at a result that best responds to all the ramifications of a project. In arriving at a balanced solution that satisfies competing operational, environmental and economic objectives, designers should also explicitly consider the likely safety outcomes of their choices.
